ReadTune processes webpage text locally so it can apply the reading settings you choose. This policy covers the Chrome extension, account restore, website purchases and referrals, and optional website analytics. The Chrome Web Store build covered by this policy does not start an in-extension checkout or offer remote dictionary lookup.
Extension and account data
When ReadTune is on, it reads visible page text, links, the current URL, and hostname in memory so it can format the page, protect rapidly changing chat interfaces, and show local reading aids. Visible text may include personal communications on chat or messaging pages. That content is processed locally, is not sent to ReadTune, Supabase, or Square, and is not retained as browsing history.
Reading preferences, presets, and feature switches are saved in
chrome.storage. This includes optional profile choices with
condition or accessibility labels such as ADHD focus, dyslexia-friendly,
visual stress, low vision, working memory, processing load, and fast
reading. A selected label can reveal or suggest a health or accessibility
interest, so ReadTune treats it as potentially sensitive profile data.
Chrome may sync these choices and settings through your Google account
when Chrome Sync is enabled. Google provides that storage and optional
Sync service; ReadTune does not receive a separate copy.
Pro sign-in uses your email through Supabase Auth. The extension stores a Supabase user identifier, short-lived access token, refresh token, signed entitlement lease, and expiry times in local Chrome storage so it can restore and verify existing paid access. The Chrome Web Store build does not initiate checkout and uses sign-in only to restore an entitlement. The signed lease can contain the paid product, recurring-or-lifetime classification, eligibility, and access-through or lease-expiry time. For Family Plus, we also process invited email addresses, family roles, membership status, invitation expiry, and a one-way hash of each invitation token. Plaintext invitation tokens are not stored. The purchaser can see the emails and status of accounts in their family.
Optional services and payments
The ReadTune website may offer paid plans through checkout hosted by Square. Square receives the payment and billing details you enter. ReadTune receives transaction, order, subscription, refund, product, amount, currency, and status references needed to grant, renew, cancel, refund, or revoke Pro access. ReadTune never receives your full card number or card security code. The submitted extension build starts no checkout and receives no card or bank details, billing address, price, amount, order, refund, or payment credential. It does receive the limited paid-access status described under Account and entitlement data.
The submitted Chrome Web Store build does not provide remote dictionary lookup and does not transmit selected words or normalized roots to a dictionary endpoint. Legacy dictionary settings may remain in a synced preferences record after an upgrade, but this build does not act on them.
A valid ?ref= code, a random visit identifier, capture time,
and landing path are stored in your browser for up to 30 days and may be
sent to ReadTune to record attribution. If you join the program, we also
process your account email, optional display name, reserved code,
attributed purchases, commission status, refund adjustments, and manual
payout-readiness records. We do not attach webpage text or browsing history
to referral records.
This website is delivered through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. When you visit, those hosting and security providers may process standard request metadata such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, request time, and security signals. They use that metadata to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and maintain service security. It is not used by ReadTune to build a reading profile.
ReadTune's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
The ReadTune website asks before loading PostHog. If you allow it, PostHog stores a pseudonymous browser identifier and website-experiment assignments and receives the page URL, variant shown, experiment impression, hero action, and checkout-button click. We disable automatic event capture and session recording. PostHog does not run in the extension and never receives the webpages or text you read with ReadTune.
Declining shows the control pricing ($5.99 monthly Plus and $59.99 Lifetime Core) and does not load PostHog. You can change your choice below. Declining also clears saved ReadTune experiment assignments from this browser.
We use account and billing records only to authenticate you, operate paid access, prevent fraud, provide support, reconcile refunds, and administer referrals, and—only after website consent—measure website experiments. Service providers receive only what their role requires: Supabase hosts authentication and entitlement records, Square processes website payments and subscriptions, PostHog receives only the consented website analytics described above, Google provides Chrome storage and optional Sync, and OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare process the limited website request metadata needed for hosting and security. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising, credit, lending, or unrelated profiling.
Page text and URLs are processed transiently. Reading settings remain until you reset them, clear extension data, or uninstall. Signing out removes the local auth session and entitlement cache. Referral attribution expires from local browser storage after 30 days. Account, transaction, refund, and server-side referral records are retained only as needed for access, support, fraud prevention, accounting, tax, and legal obligations. Hosting and security request logs are retained only as needed to deliver and protect the site, troubleshoot failures, and satisfy legal obligations. You can turn ReadTune off at any time, disable Chrome Sync, decline website analytics, and keep all optional cloud tools disabled.
Extension code is packaged with the extension; it does not download remote executable code. Network requests use HTTPS. Paid access is represented by signed, time-limited entitlement leases. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we limit data and access to the purposes above.
